Barnett Waddingham’s Amit Lad named Actuarial Post’s ‘Star of the Future’

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Amit Lad has scooped first prize at this years ‘Stars of the Future’ hosted by the Actuarial Post. The ‘Stars of the Future’ campaign highlights rising talent in the actuarial industry - acknowledging those who strive to go above and beyond.

Amit, who is a consultant actuary within the insurance consulting team, beat off fierce competition from across the industry to bring home the accolade.

Amit joined Barnett Waddingham as a graduate in 2011 and has grown alongside his team - mirroring the firm which has continued to go from strength to strength. Reflecting on this growth, Amit said: “The insurance consulting team has grown in terms of skills, expertise and clients. We now have five people with Practising Certificates, with another three on the horizon. Our team’s client list has grown to range from start-ups and mid-sized friendly societies, to FTSE100 insurers and overseas insurers”.

"“My greatest achievement to date has been helping a range of smaller and mid-sized friendly societies to successfully implement and embed Solvency II into their business in a pragmatic and proportionate way.”"

So what’s next and how does Amit top this success?

“Now that I have been labelled a “star of a future”, the pressure is on for me to deliver. My next professional challenge is to get my Chief Actuary Practising Certificate. My medium term aim is to support my team, as it continues on its trajectory to become the number one insurance actuarial consultancy provider in the UK. Beyond that, who knows what the future will hold!”
