Pensions Walk and Talk 2025 was more than just a scenic trek through the Chiltern Hills. It was two days filled with genuine connection, open conversation and shared experiences – all shaped by the unique setting of Henley-on-Thames and the spirit of those who joined us.

From Thursday’s informal barbecue at The Relais, to Friday morning’s early start along the Thames towpath, the atmosphere was one of curiosity, connection and collaboration. Even the rain couldn’t dampen spirits, and by the time walkers reached the final stretch to Oaken Grove Vineyard, the sun was out, the clouds had cleared and the conversations were still flowing.

The event came at a pivotal moment for the industry. Just a day earlier, the new Pension Schemes Bill had been introduced to Parliament – setting the stage for one of the most significant shifts in UK pensions in years. Naturally, this was a key talking points during the walk. Read our take on the Bill here.

Equally timely was the recent launch of our at-retirement research, which explores how DC savers are navigating the risks and realities of life after work. Many of our conversations along the trail circled back to this theme and how the industry must continue evolving to support better outcomes for members.

After 17km of winding trails, historic villages and rolling hills, the group arrived at the vineyard for a well-earned lunch and wine tasting – a perfect way to round off a day that balanced open conversation with open countryside.

"The route was amazing around the English countryside. The three venues for the BBQ, cake and lunch were great. And the company was exceptional with new connections made and catch ups and business updates aplenty. I will definitely be signing up again next year."
