Associate and Head of Pensions Research

Tyron is Head of Pensions Research at Barnett Waddingham and is responsible for producing many of our information bulletins, training materials and Current Pensions Issues publications.

His team ensure that Barnett Waddingham’s consultants and clients are kept up to date with developments in pensions legislation, regulation and guidance, and that our views are represented in industry-wide consultations.

In addition to this, Tyron is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries with over 20 years’ experience working in the pensions industry. In particular, he has advised Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes on a range of matters including scheme funding, governance and winding up.

Tyron also regularly speaks on technical pensions issues at industry seminars, and chairs training sessions for DB pension scheme trustees in our Bristol, Birmingham, Cheltenham and Glasgow offices.


Significant experience:

  • Speaker at numerous local and national industry events on topical pensions issues, including scheme funding, pensions taxation and population mortality.
  • Coordinated and delivered bespoke training courses for trustees, and for HR professionals (without a pensions background) to help them prepare for ‘auto-enrolment’.
  • Prepared material for and chaired training sessions for new pension scheme trustees, helping them to comply with The Pensions Regulator’s extensive ‘Trustee Knowledge and Understanding’ requirements.
  • Wrote material for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ fellowship exams, and various online pensions reference resources.
