Principal and Risk Transfer Actuary

Oliver primarily advises trustees and sponsors on identifying, analysing and implementing appropriate risk transfer solutions for their DB pension schemes.

This covers both traditional buy-ins / buy-outs and alternative risk transfer solutions. 

He supports stakeholders to critically assess their overall pensions strategy and identify optimal solutions. Oliver has a track record of effectively implementing solutions and managing multiple stakeholder groups smoothly through the process.


Significant experience

  • Executed complex full scheme buy-ins / buy-outs for clients ranging from £10m to £1bn.
  • Lead adviser to joint working groups to analyse suitability of alternative risk transfer solutions. 
  • Advised trustees and sponsors across the range of pensions issues including scheme funding, scheme closure / benefit redesign, scheme de-risking, asset backed funding and M&A, covering schemes from below £1m to over £25bn.
  • Implemented 10+ member options exercises to increase member flexibility, choice and education.

Other experience

  • Strong relationships across the professional trustee market with experience working directly with senior trustee directors as both a trustee and corporate adviser. 
  • Lots of experience working with schemes who have an overseas parent, in particular to facilitate an effective and efficient decision making process where key stakeholders are not familiar with the UK pensions landscape.
