Mia is a Senior Consulting Actuary with seven years of experience in the general insurance market.
She has led reserve reviews and Solvency II technical provision calculations for a diverse range of portfolios, including long-tailed lines.
Mia also has expertise in internal model validation, having worked with large insurers and Lloyd's syndicates. Her experience includes validating a market leading casualty catastrophe model. She is also experienced in reviewing and conducting deep dives into various risk areas of capital models, such as market risk, reserve risk and dependencies.
In addition, Mia has a strong background in Solvency II, process assurance, and process transformation. She excels in managing client relationships and effectively communicating complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders.
Significant experience
- Mia has led a variety of reserving reviews covering a range of portfolio’s including long tailed lines. This includes reviews on both a GAAP and Solvency II basis for medium and large insurers across Europe.
- Involved in validating one of the world’s first casualty catastrophe model. This involved performing and reviewing a variety of validation tests on the science module of the model, as well as holding discussions with various stakeholders regarding the use test of the model.
- Led a BW team in validating the internal model of a major Lloyd’s syndicate as part of the ongoing BAU validation process.
- Experience in performing deep dive reviews as part of internal model validation for key risk areas such as dependencies, market risk and reserve risk.
- Experienced in performing standard formula calculations for insurance companies and captives.
- Mia also has experience applying insurance principles, such as scenario testing and risk assessment, to organisations outside the insurance sector, including contributing to an Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) style exercise for a law firm.
