Contact details

Lucas works as a Project Lead in an actuarial projects team that focuses on technical work for Defined Benefit pension schemes.

Lucas also uses his wide range of knowledge to assist in developing processes and systems that will improve the experience of similar projects for other actuarial and administration colleagues, helping to deliver improved outcomes for clients.

Lucas currently specialises in Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP) projects, spanning GMP rectification and GMP equalisation. As Technology Lead for the firm’s GMP Working Group, Lucas’ role is to help identify, prioritise and facilitate improvements for all GMP projects, communicating these development needs to internal stakeholders and ensuring they meet the needs of the user.

Prior to his focus on project work, Lucas was a client account manager in Barnett Waddingham’s actuarial consulting team. He now uses this consulting skillset to provide strategic direction on project work for both internal and external client teams, particularly for clients which are transitioning through their journey plan and progressing towards a buyout with an insurer.

  • Forming productive internal connections spanning multiple teams, most recently with the firm’s Pension Administration team and Pensions Systems Analysts, which has resulted in improved connectivity between our administration software and actuarial models for GMP projects.
  • Cashflow modelling for schemes with complex benefits, including the provision of detailed cashflows for bulk annuity providers.
  • Actuarial valuations and modelling, including full system set-ups for new schemes and other member option projects such as Pension Increase Exchange (PIE) exercises.
