Helen advises both trustees and employers on a variety of Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes. She has experience of a wide range of actuarial and consultancy work including funding and de-risking, GMP projects, benefit design, liability management exercises, member communications, wind ups and scheme mergers.
She acts as Lead Partner for our services to 13 pension schemes. She is currently Scheme Actuary to six of these, and is leading standalone GMP and other data projects for three others.
Significant experience
- Acting as Lead Partner and Scheme Actuary, having overall responsibility for the services provided by Barnett Waddingham and ensuring that all advice and support is delivered in a prompt and cost-effective matter.
- Assisting trustees in funding negotiations with their sponsoring employer and with the mitigation of sponsor covenant risks.
- Advising trustees on integrated funding and investment strategies, including the implementation of appropriate de-risking frameworks.
- Advising trustees on liability management exercises (including enhanced transfer values, pension increase exchanges and flexible retirement offers).
- Leading the successful completion of GMP equalisation and other benefit rectification projects, and supporting schemes to top up benefits paid in respect of closed records.
- Supporting schemes through their transition to buy out with effective preparation for a transaction, the buy in to buy out phase and winding up.
- Overseeing the delivery of scheme mergers, including the provision of actuarial advice on bulk transfers.
