George brings a wealth of pension management and governance experience to Barnett Waddingham and is expanding our trustee executive services.

He supports our largest clients in finding solutions to problems and aids trustee boards in reaching the highest governance standards, including compliance with the new Code. His preferred approach is to work in a collaborative manner, i.e. in true partnership. He thrives in situations that allow him to get involved with a diverse range of pensions projects and activities, offering intellectual challenge. He is adept at finding improvements to models and processes and thinks strategically to resolve issues.

  • managing large pensions operations teams and delivering a 'best in class' service
  • group pensions management - both employer and trustee facing
  • building a Pensions Governance and Executive professional practice including putting in place infrastructure, hiring and developing talent and determining and progressing initiatives
  • managing change and restructure within businesses
  • pension trusteeship
  • risk benefits, including PHI, Group Life Insurance, Group Income Protection

Career

George has been in the pensions industry for more than 20 years. He has held a number of senior pensions roles including Group Pension Manager within the FTSE100 and FTSE250 and being a senior consultant. Prior to joining BW, George was at Pegasus Pensions plc (the Governance arm of Law Debenture plc) as a senior manager leading and mentoring a high performing team of Pension Executives delivering pensions management, governance and trustee executive services.

He also served on the Pegasus Management Board and the LawDeb Single Code Working party, and was a member of Pegasus’ Corporate Sole Trustee BD Board. He also advised on the initiation of Pegasus Republic of Ireland, working in tandem with their Irish Business MD.

Interests

Outside of business George loves spending time with his family and keeping fit. Pre pandemic he spent a large amount of time in the gym (he has represented Team Great Britain in Physique sport), listening to mind-stimulating podcasts. His guilty pleasure is fine wine.
