Fiona is an actuary and Client Account Manager to a range of trustees and sponsors of defined benefit pension schemes.

She provides a wide range of advice to trustee and corporate clients, enabling her clients to understand, manage and monitor their pension scheme risks as they target meeting member benefits in full. She has an excellent track record for establishing effective working relationships with her clients and their advisers.

Fiona delivers tailored advice appropriate to each trustee board, assisting them in navigating the changing pensions landscape.


Significant experience:

  • strong track record of managing large and complex pension scheme projects including valuations with very complicated benefit structures and closure to accrual
  • working closely with the Scheme Actuary in providing advice on all aspects of Scheme Funding advice, and being a trusted advisor in assisting trustees in their valuation negotiations with employers
  • assessments of the suitability of significant bulk annuity transactions of up to £500m for mature pension schemes
  • calculations and advice on rectification case where previous legal documentation was found to be invalid
  • advice on UK and international accounting disclosures to employers
  • advice on wider pension scheme matters, including reviewing member option terms, PPF levy mitigation, governance arrangements and keeping trustees abreast of current pensions issues.

Clients:

Fiona has experience of working with a wide range of UK businesses, and overseas parent companies, and their defined benefit schemes. She advises clients ranging from £15 million to over £1 billion in size, including both open and closed defined benefit schemes and covering large multi-employer schemes with overseas group parents to small single employer schemes.
