Principal and Senior Consulting Actuary

Beth advises trustees and sponsors of defined benefit (DB) pension schemes on a wide range of actuarial issues. 

Her advice to trustees and corporate clients covers funding, actuarial factors, Pension Protection Fund (PPF) levy consulting and consultation through the PPF assessment period, corporate accounting work, as well as governance support and general pensions consulting.

Beth is an experienced Client Account Manager, liaising regularly with trustees and scheme managers, as well as sponsors, to deliver advice and to complete actions on time and to an exceptional standard. Her clients range from £10m to £200m across a range of sectors.

Beth is a member of the Barnett Waddingham’s (BW) Pensions Actuarial Technical Committee, which provides the tools and training to enable the pensions actuarial teams to tackle new and difficult pensions issues.

Significant experience:

  • Advising trustees on scheme actuary matters relating to funding negotiations, journey planning and monitoring. 
  • Designing and delivering complex Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP) equalisation and conversion projects, restructuring complex pension increases and guarantees to streamline benefits, making they’re insurable
  • Preparation of corporate accounting disclosures and PPF levy support
  • Working collaboratively with external investment advisers to ensure investment and funding strategies are aligned, including working alongside fiduciary managers to provide an effective Liability-Driven Investment (LDI) solution
