Barnett Waddingham appoints Malcolm McLean, OBE

Barnett Waddingham, the UK’s leading independent firm of actuaries and consultants, has appointed Malcolm McLean, OBE, as a Consultant.

Malcolm, a well known figure in the pensions industry, joins Barnett Waddingham following a high-profile career.  Most recently, he spent 13 years as the Chief Executive of The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS), stepping down from the role in April 2010. Before that, Malcolm was General Manager/Secretary to the former Occupational Pensions Board.

Malcolm is a regular speaker at pension courses and conferences as well as making regular appearances on broadcast radio and television. He is well known to television viewers from his frequent appearances on BBC 2’s Working Lunch programme where he has been the resident “pensions expert” for nine years.

Malcolm will work alongside key Barnett Waddingham personnel to help cement the firm’s profile as the leading independent firm of actuaries and consultants. He has long been seen as a champion for the pensions consumer and will help Barnett Waddingham’s key messages and research reach a wider audience.

Adrian Waddingham, Senior Partner at Barnett Waddingham, said: “Malcolm’s experience and high profile in the pensions industry perfectly complements Barnett Waddingham’s existing talent. We are all looking forward to working alongside him as the pensions debate and regulatory change maintains its position at the top of the news agenda.”
