Seminar Programme 2007/08
Over the last 7 years Barnett Waddingham has run a number of free seminars on current pension topics which are well attended by clients, prospects and other contacts of the company. Please put these dates in your diary now to avoid disappointment – a faxback form will be mailed out before each seminar so that you can confirm your attendance.
Seminar topics
September 2007 - Transfer values and other de-risking options
The do’s and don’t’s for employers and trustees when offering transfer values to individual members as a way of reducing pension scheme liabilities. We will also consider other “de-risking” options currently available in the market.
October 2007 - Mortality update
A review of the latest mortality investigations using data from self-administered pension schemes and an update on mortality projections and how to allow for future improvements in mortality.
November 2007 - Managing Defined Contribution Pension Plans
Barnett Waddingham Investments LLP identifies strategies that plan sponsors can adopt in order to control risks to members of defined contribution pension plans including those risks identified by the Pensions Regulator in his recent publication. We also suggest practices and procedures to achieve effective ongoing management of DC plans.
December 2007 - UK and International Accounting Standards
We consider the latest developments in UK and International accounting standards. We will also review the range of acceptable assumptions for accounting purposes and consider what assumptions might be appropriate for those companies with a financial year ending on 31st December 2007.
January 2008 - Pension Protection Fund (PPF)
A review of the PPF’s activities and its proposals for calculating the risk-based levy at 31st March 2008. We will also consider the steps that either employers or trustees can take in order to reduce their PPF levy.
February 2008 - Investment
A review of investment markets, investment strategies and the latest investment ideas for pension scheme trustees.
March 2008 - Scheme Funding
We share our experiences of the new Scheme Funding regime and review the activities of the Pensions Regulator and its involvement in actuarial valuations.
April 2008 - Pension scheme administration
The latest developments in pension scheme administration and pension scheme accounting. We also consider the potential benefits of internet access for all those involved in the adminstration of the pension scheme, including the pension scheme members.
