Early return for Barnett Waddingham's newly expanded Local Authority team

Barnett Waddingham LLP is pleased to announce their appointment as actuary and investment consultant to the Somerset County Council Pension Fund. They take over the responsibility from Hewitt Associates, the incumbents for the last ten years.

Graeme Muir and his team take up their duties for the £1bn Fund, comprising 30,000 members, on 1 April 2006 after Somerset County Council completed their in-house review of its major mandates. Barnett Waddingham's contract will run for six years, with an option to extend this further.

Graeme and his team joined Barnett Waddingham's Glasgow office in February 2006 transferring with their existing Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) clients to expand Barnett Waddingham's existing Local Authority business. The winning of the Somerset County Council contract ensures that the team gets off to a flying start and means that Barnett Waddingham now advise more than 10% of all LGPS Funds.
