Barnett Waddingham LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of new partners and associates from 1 June 2005:
New Partners
Andrew Twells MA FIA is a Scheme Actuary based in Barnett Waddingham LLP's Amersham office, where he specialises in providing strategic investment advice to pension schemes.
The 27-strong Amersham office actuarial team has 10 qualified actuaries and provides full consultancy and actuarial services to occupational pension schemes and employers.
John Harrison BSc FIA is also a Scheme Actuary and is based in Barnett Waddingham LLP's Leeds office, providing actuarial and consulting services to a range of employers and occupational pension schemes.
John has wide experience of the US accounting rules for pensions and is a member of the firm's Pensions Actuarial Technical Committee.
Paul Hamilton MA FIA is a Scheme Actuary and leads Barnett Waddingham LLP's Glasgow office pensions actuarial team.
Paul and his team provide consultancy advice to ongoing occupational schemes and those winding up, advice to employers on restructuring or sales and purchases including outsourcing, and investment advice to occupational schemes.
Dave Grimshaw MA FIA joins, as a partner, the London based life insurance consulting team of Barnett Waddingham LLP, bringing his expertise in risk and reinsurance, as Pete McGurk BSc FIA leaves to pursue literary and other ambitions for a period.
New Associates
Simon Spencer BSc FIA is based in Barnett Waddingham LLP's London office, where he is a member of the life insurance consulting team.
His particular responsibility within the team is to monitor changes in regulation and legislation and to produce articles for the quarterly Barnett Waddingham Life Assurance Bulletin. Simon is also closely involved with the Continuous Mortality Investigation (CMI).
Ed Spencer BA FIA is a member of Barnett Waddingham LLP's Leeds office pensions actuarial team. Edward specialises in providing advice on all aspects of corporate pension arrangements to a diverse portfolio of clients.
Edward is responsible for the organisation of regular training sessions for the actuarial teams on a variety of topical pensions issues and is also a regular speaker at Barnett Waddingham's series of breakfast seminars and in-house Trustee Training sessions.
Nick Griggs BSc FIA is based in Barnett Waddingham LLP's Cheltenham office, where he is a member of the pensions actuarial team providing advice to a wide range of clients.
Nick has considerable experience in advising companies on employer related pensions issues and is also a member of the firm's Actuarial Technical Committee.
John Carter BSc FIA is a member of Barnett Waddingham LLP's London office pensions actuarial team and specialises in providing pensions advice to our corporate and trustee clients.
John has experience of advising a wide range of pension schemes including both final salary and defined contribution arrangements. He is actively involved in all areas of actuarial and consultancy work including valuations, investment, benefit design, wind-ups, mergers and acquisitions, trustee training and member communication.
Julian Mainwood APMI Dip CII is based in Barnett Waddingham LLP's Amersham office, where he is responsible for a team administering a varied portfolio of defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes.
Within this role, he is heavily involved in the application of the Inland Revenue's simplification proposals for the firm's clients, with particular emphasis on member communications, training for administrators and clients, and impact on working processes.
Sue Manning ACII APMI is a member of the 30-strong group pensions management and administration team in Barnett Waddingham LLP's Cheltenham office. She is responsible for the administration of a varied portfolio of occupational pension schemes.
In addition to providing services to clients and pension scheme members, Sue works on the development and maintenance of external interfaces with third parties, such as investment managers, on behalf of the firm's pensions administration teams.
