New Partners and Associate 2004
The Partners of Barnett Waddingham LLP are pleased to announce the following promotions with effect from 1 June 2004.
New Partners
Paul Latimer graduated from Manchester University in 1986 with a Physics degree and joined Barnett Waddingham the same year, focusing on life and pensions actuarial work and continuous mortality investigation studies.
In 1993, he moved to join the Buckinghamshire pensions administration team, where he set up the firm's benefit administration system. He is now in charge of day-to-day pensions administration services at the Amersham office. He is also a member of the firm's Pension Management Planning Group, which is responsible for implementing strategy within the firm's pensions administration business. Paul has obtained the Institute of Actuaries' Certificate of Actuarial Techniques and is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute. He is also Treasurer of the Profund User Group, and immediate past Chairman of its Third Party Sub-Committee.
Marcus Whitehead joined Barnett Waddingham in 2002 and is a Director of the firm's investment subsidiary, Barnett Waddingham Investments Limited.
He qualified as an actuary in 1992 and over the last decade has gained particular expertise in advising on defined contribution arrangements, to both companies and individuals, on insured and self-administered pension schemes, also covering approved and unapproved arrangements. Marcus is also a regular speaker on pensions issues at both internal and external seminars, currently specialising on the impact of pensions taxation simplification.
Rajeev Shah qualified as an actuary with Prudential in 1998 and joined Barnett Waddingham's Insurance Consultancy team in 2000. Specialising in life assurance, Rajeev has a wide range of experience in the financial management of life offices.
Rajeev serves on several working parties of the actuarial profession, with a particular interest in actuarial research into mortality and morbidity. He has also spoken at various conferences on these topics.
New Associate
Paul Houghton is an actuary specialising in providing pensions advice to our corporate clients. He joined the Amersham office in 1998, and qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2003.
Paul is part of the team which researches new pensions and/or actuarial issues to provide consistent firm-wide solutions, and produces the firm's "Current Pensions Issues" newsletter, as well as being actively involved in the management of the Amersham actuarial team.
