Happy 4th birthday, Barnett Waddingham website
Adam Walker takes a brief look back at the last four years for the firm on the web.
It is now four years since the Barnett Waddingham website led the firm from "meatspace" (i.e. the real world) into the virtual realm of the e-community.
Apart from being a repository of photographic evidence which graphically demonstrates the effects of ageing over that period, the website has also showcased the new and different types of work that the firm has been undertaking. Some websites exist solely to confirm the existence of an organisation but are otherwise short on or devoid of content. Our website has, however, become something of a focal point over the last four years in informing both BW staff and the world at large about the different areas in which Barnett Waddingham has become involved.
A short analysis of the 270 or so articles included in the site over the last four years demonstrates that sporting achievements worthy of note (ranging from marathon running to table football) outnumber the 13 or so parties of note that have taken place over that period, suggesting an adequate level of fitness within the firm. If one counts other non-work-related articles, this suggests that overall, the firm's work-leisure balance is at a reasonably healthy level. Recent months show a marked trend towards fairly heavy-duty topics in pensions and life insurance, but this may just be a prelude to the summer party season.
Some changes in style to the website are currently in the pipeline, but we hope to retain those qualities which have continued to please people over the years. Two years ago I gave a summary of the aspects that people liked about our website, and these continue to be the principal points of appeal. As usual, any comments that you would like to send to us about the website will not only be gratefully received, but will also be taken into account in finalising our new look.
