Barnett Waddingham Liverpool office opening party
Louise Witts, the partner who moved from Leeds to head Barnett Waddingham's Liverpool office, reports on the grand opening party.
On 22 January we held a party to officially open our new Liverpool office.
The office was set up following our agreement with Mercer Human Resource Consulting to acquire their SSAS business. The deal resulted in 17 Mercer staff transferring to Barnett Waddingham on 9 December, with a team of 5 led by Trevor Harvey joining our Amersham office, and a team of 12 led by Pauline Berry moving to the new office in Liverpool.
The Liverpool team are joined by Louise Witts, partner of Barnett Waddingham who was previously based in the Leeds office, and Bob Chadwick, an experienced actuary who has been based in the Liverpool area for most of his career and knows the ground well.
Our new offices are in the prestigious Cunard Building on Liverpool waterfront. Sadly we don't have a river view, but so far we have all been too busy to notice! Our opening party was a chance to relax for all the staff who have worked so hard to make the transition seamless, and an opportunity for our clients and contacts to visit our new premises. We were joined by partners from each of our other offices and they were a little bemused when one chap asked for their watches - it turned out he was a magician wanting to use them for one of his tricks. No harm done, although I am not sure they have been quite on time since!
We were delighted that so many people made the journey to come along to the party. And we were particularly pleased that Geoffrey Heywood could join us and officially "initiate" the office. Geoffrey was based in the Liverpool area throughout his career and is the only actuary to have held all four prestigious actuarial posts (President of the Institute of Actuaries, President of the Association of Consulting Actuaries, President of the International Association of Consulting and Master of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries). Although now retired he still remains in touch with the profession and with some of his former actuarial students including those now partners of Barnett Waddingham.
The party was a resounding success and we send many thanks to all involved for all their hard work.
Barnett Waddingham, January 2003.
