The Lord Mayor's Show
Victoria Cole from our London office saw the Lord Mayor's Show processing past the office.
Like the London Marathon, Royal Weddings, the Trooping of the Colour and various other grand events, the Lord Mayor's Show is something one always means to go to, and yet never actually manages to see. But with Cheapside House offering grandstand views of the whole parade, this year was the perfect opportunity to show support for a proper London spectacular.
About 25 adults and children gathered, and many took up positions on the narrow balcony overlooking Cheapside ... attracting the attention of the two gentleman from Special Forces stationed on the roof opposite.
We waved at the marching bands, the people on the floats, the people in carriages, the Lord Mayor (but I don't think he saw us), but most of all we waved at the band dressed in Dutch national costume, on bicycles, steering with their elbows, and riding in figures-of-eight.
Once it was all over, we took our tired arms back to the kitchen to eat a few more of the delicious nibbles that had been laid on, and then departed.
