Exam successes - July 2001
The Pensions Management Institute associateship examination results announced in July 2001 were cause for much celebration, with 18 passes being gained by members of our SSAS and pensions administration teams. Some were lucky enough to get their results in the post on Saturday 14 July, while others were less fortunate and had to wait until the Monday morning when the PMI published results on their website.
The biggest celebration came from the Cheltenham pensions administration team, where Mandie Bird qualified as an Associate of the PMI. Mandie was holidaying abroad at the time and, keen to find out her results but not wishing to disturb her sleeping travelling companions, she phoned the PMI on her mobile phone to find out the good news.
Global communication is a wonderful thing - after she'd made her call to the PMI, Mandie found that she'd already got voicemail messages from her colleagues back in the UK congratulating her on her qualification. After a champagne breakfast, Mandie spotted a copy of that morning's Times and was delighted to see her name in black and white. This was a good excuse for a further celebration.
Other members of our pensions administration teams have also had good cause for celebration this year, having accumulated a grand total of 23 exam passes and 10 workbased unit certificates under the industry's Qualification in Pensions Administration. This is no mean feat, the exams having an alarmingly high pass mark and the workbased units requiring a good deal of organisation, skill and effort. We expect that another dozen workbased unit certificates will have been earned before the end of August.
Well done to all those who've done so well in their studies already this year.
