New partners and associates

Apart from the new logo (which incorporates the words "Actuaries and Consultants" instead of the previous "Consulting Actuaries"), Barnett Waddingham made some other changes on 1 June 2001, with four new partners and two new associates of the firm.


New Partners

Rachel Evans
, became a partner of the firm on 1 June 2001 and is based in the Amersham office. Rachel joined the firm in January 1993 to establish the pensions administration service and has been an associate of the firm since 1994. She is responsible for co-ordinating group pensions administration services across our UK offices.

Rachel has 19 years' experience in the pensions industry and is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute (APMI). Rachel is the current Education Secretary of the National Association of Pension Funds West London Group and is an Affiliate of the Institute of Actuaries.

Nigel Hacking, is also based in the Amersham office and became a partner in the firm on 1 June 2001.  Nigel graduated from Bristol University in 1978 with a degree in Mathematics and completed the actuarial examinations in 1985.

He is an associate of the Pensions Management Institute. His career started at Equity & Law in High Wycombe before moving into consultancy in 1988. Nigel is a Scheme Actuary, and has wide experience ranging from advising large UK quoted companies on all aspects of their pension arrangements to providing financial advice to individuals.

Susanna Morran, became a partner on 1 June 2001.  Susanna joined Barnett Waddingham's London office straight from Oxford University, where she studied Mathematics, in 1993.  She qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1997, became an associate in the firm in 1999.

Susanna has a Scheme Actuary certificate. She is in charge of professional training across the firm for both the actuarial examinations and the Pensions Management Institute examinations. Susanna will still be based in the London office.

Louise Witts is the fourth new partner in the firm on 1 June 2001.  Louise was an associate of the firm and has 8 years of pensions actuarial consulting experience. Louise qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1998. Louise has experience of all aspects of corporate pension arrangements.

Louise is a member of the Pensions Actuarial Technical Research group within Barnett Waddingham. This group researches and co-ordinates actuarial technical work within the firm's offices. Louise is a regular speaker at Barnett Waddingham's seminars on technical updates and trustee training.

New Associates

Julia Bassett is based in the Cheltenham office and became an associate in the firm on 1 June 2001.  Julia joined Barnett Waddingham in September 1996 to work on a variety of pension areas. Julia has over 12 years' experience in final salary and money purchase schemes, personal pensions, group life assurance and health insurance contracts.

Julia has been responsible for the establishment of the Barnett Waddingham Self Invested Personal Pension (BWSIPP) which was launched in 1999 and manages its continuing development. Julia qualified as an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute (APMI) in 1993 and as an Associate of the society of Financial Advisers (ASFA) in 1997.

Janet Chiaro graduated from Cardiff University in 1986 with a degree in Mathematics and qualifed as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1993.

Janet has 14 years' experience in all aspects of pension scheme consultancy and has a Scheme Actuary certificate. Janet became an Associate in the firm based in Amersham on 1 June 2001.
