Hacking into Barnett Waddingham

Barnett Waddingham are delighted to welcome Nigel Hacking to the firm.

Nigel graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Mathematics in 1978 and completed the actuarial examinations in 1985. He qualified as an associate member of the Pensions Management Institute in 1987, and also recently gained his Financial Planning Certificate.

His career started as a trainee actuary at Equity & Law in High Wycombe before moving to actuarial consultancy work at the Wyatt Company. In 1988, he left Wyatt with a small group of colleagues to be a founder Director of Aspen (Actuaries & Pension Consultants) plc. During his 12 years at Aspen, he was a key figure in the successful development of the business.

Nigel holds a Scheme Actuary Certificate and was Scheme Actuary to over 30 pension schemes when he left Aspen. He has very wide experience ranging from advising large UK quoted companies on all aspects of their pension arrangements to providing financial advice to individuals.

His wife Penny and two sons ensure he has a busy social life, and he attempts to keep fit through regular games of five-a-side football and tennis. He is a keen Bolton Wanderers supporter and has inflicted a similar fate on his sons.
