Historic SSAS and SIPP Seminars
Richard Millson introduced the tenth year of these popular seminars on SSASs which, in 1999, also covered the new Barnett Waddingham SIPP.
For many of our clients who run their own privately owned business and for their professional advisers such as accountants and solicitors, the Barnett Waddingham series of Autumn SSAS Seminars were becoming something of an institution.
1999 was the tenth year of the SSAS Seminars, and that year the seminars were of interest to a wider audience, following the recent launch of the Barnett Waddingham SIPP. Whilst SSASs are restricted to those who have a limited company, a SIPP is available to the self-employed including partnerships.
In 1999 the first Seminar took place in London on 2 November. There were Seminars held right across the country, covering venues as far afield as Bristol and Newcastle.
As part of the preparation for the Seminars, everyone in the Firm involved with SSASs and SIPPs attended a Training Day at the Priest House Hotel near Castle Donington. The day's discussions were led by Adrian Waddingham and provided an opportunity for ideas and experiences to be exchanged and for both junior and senior staff to develop their knowledge, in keeping with the firm's commitment to provide high quality professional advice. The day was rounded off with dinner following which the actuaries, (long the butt of jokes such as "What is an actuary?; someone who found accountancy too exciting") showed that they know how to party!
