Barnett Waddingham 10th Birthday Party

Barnett Waddingham celebrated its 10th birthday party in some style on Wednesday 23 June at the London Transport Museum in London's Covent Garden.

We were pleased to welcome some 300 guests who called in during the evening - some were on their way home after a long day of "pensioning" but we were delighted that some had made the trip specially. In particular, we had with us clients from Germany and France and even from as far away as New Zealand (and it's difficult to think how much farther one could have travelled). We have to suppose however that just maybe they had other matters to deal with in London whilst here!

The venue was very interesting - a history of the public transport system in the UK and in London in particular. Some observations were heard that the system travels at the same average speed now as it did at the turn of the century (the last one, that is). Others that the discomfort was no less now than it was then. At least we have better museums now!

Senior Partner Huw Wynne-Griffith gave a short welcoming speech and reminded all that over the last 10 years all that's good in our business seems to have come from computers (thank you Bill Gates) and everything that's bad for pensions seems to come from government - a tad cynical perhaps. But with a nugget...?

To those that joined the abstinent Barnett Waddingham home team in the Punch Tavern afterwards ... sore heads on Thursday 24th. Nobody ever learns...!

Now, where can we go next year?
