Happy Birthday Barnett Waddingham!
Barnett Waddingham celebrates its tenth birthday in June. It was in May 1989 that the founding partners met in Bath and agreed to establish a new firm. At that time there were 12 employees, and in the ten years since then the firm has grown from strength to strength. There are now five offices, one in Luxembourg and four in the UK, supported by 170 staff and partners.
Each office is arranging a party for them and their families to celebrate the successful growth of the firm.
New partners appointed
Three new partners have been appointed with effect from 1 June 1999. These are Jon Bridger in the Cheltenham office, Nilesh Dodhia in the Amersham office and Danny Wilding in London. This takes the number of partners to 15. Senior partner Huw Wynne-Griffith welcomed them aboard, saying "I am doubly glad: first that our business continues to grow, and secondly that we have excellent actuaries on the staff who will strengthen the partnership".
New partner in Leeds
Martin Harris, one of the founding partners ten years ago, retired from the firm on 31 May 1999, and Mark Underwood has taken over as head of the Leeds office. Partner Colin Richardson has moved from the Amersham office to work with Mark in Leeds. Louise Witts, one of the firm's newly qualified actuaries, has also moved from Amersham to Leeds to strengthen that office.
New associates appointed
Also from 1 June, Richard Millson in Leeds and Susanna Morran in London will become Associates of the firm, bringing the number of associates to 5.
Annual Review
Each year the firm publishes a light-hearted review of the previous twelve months, and the 1998 Annual Review has now been published and issued to clients and friends. Mark Da Silva has taken over as editor from Adrian Waddingham, and continues the objective of trying to convince a sceptical world that actuarial work is both varied and fun! (Copies of the Review can be obtained from any office.)
