Following the identification of appropriate investment managers and products that are best able to fulfil a scheme’s agreed portfolio mandates, the strategy can be implemented.
We use a combination of internal and external research to support strategy proposals. Internal research is carried out within our Investment Consulting practice and covers both generic strategy research as well as key elements of investment manager research.
Our internal research is complemented by external investment manager research through the use of a comprehensive manager database maintained by Brockhouse Cooper, a specialist global manager research firm based in North America. Brockhouse Cooper carry out over 750 manager interviews annually and maintain a proprietary database of over 4,000 funds from over 1,000 managers.
Our investment research approach provides access to a large body of research into traditional asset classes, whilst being able to examine new market innovations. This also permits what we believe is a key distinction between our approach and that of many of our competitors, in that we do not maintain “Buy” or “Sell” lists; we provide tailored shortlists specific to each client’s mandate needs. It is this tailoring of the search process which we believe adds value.
We establish the particular needs for each investment manager mandate, to filter the universe of potential managers and provide bespoke briefing to our clients.
The implementation is completed with negotiation of the manager’s terms and charges, and oversight of the physical investment of the funds.
