Vacancy: Research Analyst/Assistant Investment Manager

Description: The Barnett Waddingham Investments team in our Amersham office are looking to recruit a Research Analyst/Assistant Investment Manager to cover maternity leave for an initial period of 6 months.
Barnett Waddingham Investments LLP (BWI LLP) was created in 2002 when the need for specialist regulated advice with the Barnett Waddingham group became evident as the firm grew and the needs of the clients became more diverse.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant financial services background and experience in managing portfolios and conducting research into individual stocks, bonds and funds. A relevant investment qualification such as the Investment Management Certificate or Chartered Financial Analyst qualifications would be desirable. Proficient use of Bloomberg or other similar financial data software will be required.

Vacancy: Part Qualified Actuary

Description: Our London office is looking for a part qualified actuary with at least three years’ pensions experience and good exam progress to join their expanding team. This is a role with a high level of responsibility where you will work closely with senior members of the team and take an active role in managing client work and attending client meetings. You will mainly be involved in trustee advice, but with the opportunity to gain some experience of corporate and investment work. As well as excellent technical and communication skills, you should demonstrate the ability to train and develop junior members of the team, and to check their work and provide constructive feedback to ensure their continued development.

Vacancy: Software Developer

Description:
The Position
You will be working in a small team (currently 8) based in Amersham with involvement in all parts of the project life cycle including Design, Implementation, Testing, Deployment, Documentation and Support.
You will be required to:
1. Develop, maintain and document applications using the Microsoft .NET framework, C#, ASP.NET MVC, and SQL Server 2008, amongst other technologies. Typical applications include:
- Business systems such as pension administration, task management, time recording and contact management.
- Data interchange and data reconciliation between disparate systems.
- Financial modelling and forecasting systems.
2. Integrate existing systems using components, web technologies and macros.
3. Provide support for in-house applications and assist in training others in the use of these applications.
4. Complete and update the Microsoft Certified Solution Developer qualification.
The Person
We are looking for candidates with a degree or equivalent qualification. The successful candidate will have good A level grades, be enthusiastic, able to demonstrate their abilities and to communicate effectively with other team members.
We are ideally looking for a recent graduate or a candidate with up to 3 years programming experience in an object orientated language (C#, Java, Visual Basic .net, C++ or equivalent). A good understanding of relational database concepts will be needed. You'll be expected to learn and become proficient in some of these technologies as the need arises.
1. Application development using C# to create and maintain standalone programs, shared components and distributed applications.
2. Database - SQL Server, ADO, Entity Framework.
3. Internet programming using ASP.NET MVC, jQuery, Google API, etc.
4. Windows programming using WPF.
5. Messaging - Exchange, Outlook, CDO.
Additionally the candidate should have a genuine interest in IT and be able to:
1. Analyse and define a business problem in computing terms.
2. Work within a team environment.
3. Communicate technical ideas to non-technical staff.
4. Learn quickly and absorb new ideas.

Vacancy: SSAS Administrator/Trainee Consultant

The Amersham office is seeking to recruit two Administrators for the Small Self-Administered Pension Schemes (SSAS) practice area. A financial services background is required, preferably with SSAS experience for one of the roles, whilst such experience would be preferred for the second vacancy.
The successful candidates will be required to support existing administrators and consultants and for one vacancy, knowledge of benefit crystallisation events, permitted investments and HMRC practice would be an advantage. Given the necessary experience the successful applicants should have the opportunity to ultimately assume responsibility to give consultants advice to clients.
Good organisational, communication and client liaison skills together with a high level of numeracy are essential.

Vacancy: Client Account Manager

Description: Our Employee Benefits practice area is looking to recruit a Client Account Manager for our Leeds office. We pride ourselves on providing a high level of professional service. Candidates will have a thorough technical knowledge of DC pensions and auto-enrolment, excellent written and oral communication skills and be a competent presenter to groups of employees.
You will be supporting employee benefit Client Relationship Managers, advising clients in relation to group DC pension provision and group risk benefits. Our Client Support team assist Client Account Managers to deliver the services required.
The role requires FSA CF30 status; Dip PFS is required as a minimum. We will support study to achieve Chartered status. Ideal candidates will have relevant experience in this area, probably currently working in a similar role for a consultancy.
It is important to be able to work well in a team environment and have the ability to use your own initiative. Some travelling is involved, including overnight stays where necessary.

Vacancy: Pension Administrator

The Pension Administration team in our Glasgow office is looking to recruit a full time Pension Administrator.
The ideal candidate will have a background in DC and/or DB pension administration and whilst PPF administration experience will be advantageous, it is not essential. Excellent communication skills is key as the successful candidate will be required to liaise with clients and third party bodies such as DWP, HMRC and The Pensions Regulator.
The ideal candidate will have grade 3 and above in the Standards qualification in Maths and English and good progression with a PMI qualification. A willingness to progress with professional qualifications would be a benefit, however proven experience in the role is more desirable than an academic achievement.
