What makes Barnett Waddingham different?
Barnett Waddingham is a firm with real opportunities for progression. Our culture is paternalistic and supportive with every employee a valued and respected member of the business. How do I apply?
The online application form is the same for both Graduate Scheme applications and Summer Placements.
Applications can be made from September 2010 via our online application form.

What are we looking for?
You will have, or be expecting to get, a minimum of a 2:1 degree in a subject with a numerical element. Candidates should also have at least 300 UCAS tariff points, including an 'A' grade in A-Level maths, or equivalent qualifications.
We also assess the extent to which, when compared against other candidates, you can demonstrate the following:
- Communication - spoken, written and non-verbal
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self motivation
- Business awareness
- Planning and organising
- Problem solving
- Teamwork
Can I apply if I do not meet the minimum criteria?

What is the selection process?

What training and support will be provided to me?
All graduates undergo a period of induction on entering the firm. In addition to attending a main induction event, you will also receive training sessions given by various members of the Pensions or Insurance Consulting team (as appropriate) during your first few weeks. As well as working closely with Partners and Associates, all of our trainees are assigned a mentor who will have regular meetings with them to discuss your progress in both work and study. During the period you are working towards qualification the firm will provide you with every support including generous study leave and funding for external courses.
What are the opportunities for progression and how will this be supported?
The opportunities for progression are good and are supported through the training and mentoring programme. You will have regular reviews with your mentor and a Partner or Associate to discuss your progress and ongoing career path.
Can I reapply if a previous application was unsuccessful?
It is a requirement that our minimum criteria are met, should your position with regards to this change you may reapply.
Can I defer my offer for one year?
This will be considered on a case by case basis.
What is the social life like?
Social activities are very popular in all of the Barnett Waddingham offices. They range from inter office sporting events to the annual Christmas party.
