Tyron Potts FIA

Tyron Potts graduated from the University of Warwick in 1999 with a first class honours degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics and Economics. He joined Barnett Waddingham in February 2008 following the firm's acquisition of Garvins.

Tyron began his career as an actuarial trainee at Garvins before moving to London in 2002 and joining Punter Southall & Co. Tyron returned to Garvins in 2006 and qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2007.

Tyron is client manager for a number of clients – predominantly trustees and sponsoring employers of final salary pension schemes. He has experience in advising clients in relation to pension scheme funding and winding-up as well as corporate transactions and accounting.

As well as his client manager responsibilities, Tyron is a member of Barnett Waddingham’s Pensions Actuarial Technical Committee and is also chair of the firm’s Pensions Research Group. Tyron is involved with producing many of Barnett Waddingham’s information bulletins and the quarterly Current Pensions Issues publication. He also coordinates the firm’s response to industry consultation papers.

Tyron regularly speaks on technical issues at Barnett Waddingham seminars and chairs training sessions for pension scheme trustees in our Bromsgrove office. He has also written material for the Institute of Actuaries’ fellowship exams.

Outside of work, Tyron enjoys walking, swimming and cycling with his young son. He is also a keen (but not very good) poker player.
