Rod Marshall FFA
Rod qualified as an actuary in 1982, having graduated from Heriot-Watt University with a first class honours degree in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics. Before joining Barnett Waddingham as a Partner in 2007 he was a partner and head of pensions at New Bridge Street Consultants, where he worked for 11 years. Prior to that he spent 12 years as a pensions actuary in a large employee benefits firm.
Rod provides actuarial, consultancy and strategic advice on actuarial and benefits issues to a wide range of pension scheme trustee boards, and helps a number of companies in the preparation of pension cost disclosures for their report and accounts. He is a firm believer in trying to present advice in a way clients can readily understand.
During his career Rod has written various articles for the pensions press and was co-author of a pensions paper presented to the Staple Inn Actuarial Society. He has spoken at a number of events, including a conference of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica in 2009. He is on the Public Relations Committee of the Association of Consulting Actuaries and is involved with the Association of Member Nominated Trustees.
Rod is married with two adult daughters. He edited the puzzles column of The Actuary magazine for more than ten years and has co-authored a few books of puzzles.
