Richard Weatherill FIA
Richard graduated from City University in 2002 with a First Class degree in Actuarial Science.
Richard qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2005, and joined Barnett Waddingham in 2006.
Richard acts as support to the Partners in their statutory roles looking after life and non-life insurers and reinsurers in the UK and overseas. He has also developed a model for assessing expected mortality experience of a group of lives based on their residential postcodes, and he has advanced Barnett Waddingham’s stochastic modelling capabilities through his capital modelling work.
In 2009, the Institute of Actuaries awarded Richard the certificate enabling him to act as an Actuarial Function Holder, With-Profits Actuary, Reviewing Actuary or Appropriate Actuary.
He began his career with Swiss Life (UK) plc, which later became part of Phoenix Life Limited under the Resolution umbrella. Richard had a supervisory role in the actuarial management of Swiss Life’s three with-profits funds, and his responsibilities included asset share calculations, regulatory reporting, and the development of Swiss Life’s first Realistic Balance Sheet.
