Nigel Hacking FIA FPMI


Nigel Hacking has a degree in Mathematics from Bristol University and qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1987 (having completed the examinations in 1985). He passed the examinations to become an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute in 1987 and was made a Fellow in 2008. He has held a certificate to act as a scheme actuary since the introduction of the certificates in 1996.

Nigel joined the firm in 2001 and was appointed a partner in our Amersham office in June 2001.

He has wide experience of providing actuarial, investment consultancy and general consultancy advice to clients ranging from quoted UK plc's to small companies. He has acted as an expert witness in a number of pension litigation cases.

Nigel has served as an examiner and as a course tutor for the Institute of Actuaries. He has been a member of the Asset-Liability Modelling working party and has served as a member of the Investigation Committee, which deals with complaints against members of the Institute of Actuaries. He is currently a member of the Association of Consulting Actuaries accounting standards sub-committee. He is a regular speaker at seminars held by the Association of Pension Lawyers, the Institute of Actuaries, regional accountancy groups and on the NAPF trustee training programme.

Nigel is married with two children. He spends much of his spare time showing that golf is not as easy as it looks on television and supporting Bolton Wanderers football club.
