Michael Lawson transferred to Barnett Waddingham’s Amersham office in 2011, having spent 8 years in the firm’s Leeds office.

Michael graduated from Leeds University in 2001 with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and joined Barnett Waddingham in November 2002.

He initially worked in the Small Schemes Team which provides consultancy for Small Self-Administered Pension Schemes (SSASs) and Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs), and obtained the Personal Finance Society Diploma in Financial Planning before transferring to the actuarial team in 2006.

Michael qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 2010 and is involved in a wide variety of pension scheme work on behalf of trustees and employers.

In addition to his client work, Michael is a member of the firm’s Pensions Research Group which researches new pensions regulations and developments and shares this information with the rest of the firm. It also assists with the preparation of Barnett Waddingham’s pensions newsletters.

Michael is married and has twin daughters who take up the majority of his time outside of the office.
