Malcolm McLean
Malcolm McLean OBE
Malcolm McLean, OBE joined Barnett Waddingham as a Consultant in April 2010.
Before that, he had been the Chief Executive of the Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) for the preceding 13 years.
His earlier career was mainly as a civil servant working on pension policy and at “the sharp end” in the delivery of benefits. He was also for 3 years the General Manager/Secretary to the now defunct Occupational Pensions Board (OPB).
Malcolm is a popular speaker on pension courses and conferences and regularly broadcasts on both television and radio, notably Radio 4’s Moneybox Live programme. He became well known to daytime television viewers as the “resident pensions expert” on BBC2’s Working Lunch, a position he held for over 9 years prior to the programme ending its run in July 2010.
Malcolm has received 4 major pension industry awards including the very prestigious “Greatest Single Contribution to Occupational; Pensions of the Decade” at the 10th Anniversary UK Pension Awards held in 2007. As recently as February 2011 he was chosen as the recipient of an inaugural award from the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) for “Outstanding Contribution to the Pensions Industry 2011”.
