Graeme Muir FFA

Graeme Muir graduated with BSc (Honours) in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh in 1985 and qualified as an actuary in 1989.

In 2006 Graeme joined Barnett Waddingham as senior partner in the Glasgow office together with his clients and his team. Having set up his Public sector actuarial practice in 2002, Graeme and his team now look after nearly 25% of the local authority market.  Graeme is the Practice Area Leader for Public Sector Consulting.

Graeme is a member of the Association of Consulting Actuaries Main Committee and is a former chairman of the Association of Consulting Actuaries Local Government Pensions Sub-committee having served on that committee for many years. Graeme has advised CIPFA on a number of pension accounting issues including the implementation of FRS17 and is a regular speaker at Local Authority Pensions Seminars and Conferences.

Graeme has been providing actuarial advice to LGPS funds for over 25 years and in that time has advised over two thirds of all LGPS funds. He is recognised as an expert within the LGPS and provides input to CLG and other policy making bodies involved with the LGPS.

Graeme has owned numerous sports cars and golfing equipment throughout his career - an investment program that looks set to continue as father to 3 boys who look set to follow in their father's footsteps - albeit they might embark on more lucrative careers.
