Cherry Chan FIA


Cherry graduated from the London School of Economics in 1999 and qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2004.

Cherry joined Barnett Waddingham’s Insurance Consulting team in July 2009, heading the General Insurance Team in London.

Her current role includes expanding Barnett Waddingham actuarial services such as actuarial review and Solvency II implementation to a wider market.  She is also working closely with Barnett Waddingham’s Public Sector Consulting team to develop tailor-made insurance risks modeling tools for the public sector market.

Prior to joining Barnett Waddingham, she worked for Marsh in a varied role, including developing many areas of enterprise risk management, insurance programme optimization and reserve reviews for multinational and public sector clients. 

Cherry has gained seven years of actuarial and consulting experience at Deloitte (Bacon & Woodrow prior to May 2001), where she carried out a large number of actuarial reviews for various insurance companies using various actuarial techniques including the use of stochastic models.  She has also managed various statutory reserving projects for Lloyd’s syndicates, London market and Bermuda based companies.

She was involved in the working party for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and also co-presented in the ERM Workshop at GIRO 2007. She is also a co-author of “ERM in General Insurance” paper in April 2008.

She co-presented in the “Increasing the relevance of Risk Tolerance in today’s organisation” workshop at GIRO 2008.
